Visitors information market Zuiderhage enthusiastic about plans
Last Monday 10 March was the first participation meeting for the new Zuiderhage district. The meeting in the form of an information market at the Warande Child Centre was well attended by local residents, interested parties and stakeholders. There were stands with themes such as housing, nature, sustainability and traffic. Over 200 people visited the information market, got informed and engaged in conversation.
The overall master vision and the theme of housing in particular attracted a lot of interest. Demand for affordable housing but also free plots was high, as was the need for ground-level senior housing.
Councillor Dennis Grimbergen: "It is great to see that those present are so enthusiastic about the plans. The need for housing is great. We are also doing all we can to grow and add more housing supply to the city. Not only in Zuiderhage, but in several places in the city. For Zuiderhage, we assume that we will drive the first pile in 2026."
Zuiderhage in brief
In the coming years, Lelystad will expand with Zuiderhage. A completely new district, adjacent to Warande, between Hollandse Hout and the A6 motorway. In the future, Zuiderhage will accommodate around 25,000 residents who will live in harmony with nature and each other. Over a period of 20-25 years, 9,000 - 16,000 homes will be built. There will be 10 compact hamlets, which will be developed in phases.
The master vision was adopted by the council last summer. Together with the national real estate company, the municipality is now developing the plan further. An important step here is to collect input from residents, interested parties and stakeholders. By talking to them, we can find out what their wishes and needs are. This provides tools to put together a good programme.
Planning
The next meeting is a working session with community facilities, such as GPs and sports facilities. With them we will discuss their wishes and the possibilities. Meanwhile, we are working on the Environmental Plan. We aim to have it adopted by the council by the end of this year.
We will also enter into talks with developers and construction companies before the summer, so that the request for proposals will soon match the needs of the market.
