We continue to grow

Lelystad wants to grow. To 120,000 inhabitants by 2030. Ambitious and necessary, because housing is needed. In various places in the city, neighbourhoods are being refurbished and buildings are being built. In the existing city and on the outskirts.

Consider the Campusgebied Midden, the area centrally located in Lelystad where both rental and owner-occupied homes are being added. Close to amenities, schools and education. Also consider the large-scale development on the coast. A beautiful and unique spot on the Markermeer where much will be developed in the coming years. Not only in terms of housing but also in terms of recreation and staying at the coast. And since recently, Lelystad also has a completely new district: Zuiderhage. Which in 20-25 years' time will provide space for about 25,000 inhabitants who will live in harmony with nature and each other.

The overall picture counts

Area development is not just about housing but about a coherent whole. We like to balance living, working and nature. Lelystad is growing in a sustainable and smart way. With energy-efficient, green new buildings such as Warande and Zuiderhage. (Re)developing business parks such as Lelystad Airport Businesspark and Flevokust Haven will create more jobs.

Nature and city

In Lelystad, we try to let nature and city grow proportionally as much as possible. We do this partly by promoting biodiversity (types of plants and animals). For example, we replace tiles for greenery: together with residents. Planting makes the city more resistant to heat stress and helps with flooding. Want to do your bit?
